Pilates Matwork is an exercise system that derives from Joseph Pilates' original core principles: Concentration, Centering, Control, Precision, Breathing and Flow. The body is addressed as a whole - strengthening, lengthening, stabilising, mobilising and articulating in all planes of movement. Prepare for a constant flow of effort with each exercise transitioning to the next.
Pilates mat classes focus on developing core strength, flexibility, balance and stamina. Ashley presents the exercises at multiple levels which allows participants to choose to work at a beginning, intermediate, or advanced pace. You will learn to be aware of breathing patterns and spinal alignment while engaging the deep muscles of the core. No previous Pilates experience is necessary to join a mat class.
